Insurance does not permit billing for couples and family therapy as a unit. Insurance billing requires a formal diagnosis; the unit, i.e., the couple or family system, can not receive a diagnosis. Additionally, family therapy for insurance billing helps the family member and the identified patient manage their diagnosis.

Effective February 1, 2025, all couples, family, or relational therapy services are self-pay services. We offer package options for these services and will work with you to help you access the care you need.

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, services may be covered in whole or part. Don’t hesitate to contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

I’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and have I met it yet?
  • Does my plan limit the number of sessions I can have per calendar year? If so, what is the limit?
  • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician to have services covered?

*The Affordable Counseling Program (ACP) does not utilize insurance billing.

*Carriers with the asterisk indicate that we are approved to provide telemental health services. Please review your coverage to confirm that this service is a covered benefit. If we are out of network, we will provide a superbill so you may file your claims. Please confirm that your provider is In-Network with your insurance carrier. Some providers are not participating.

Payment

I accept all major credit cards and ACH debit for payment. Our electronic health record (EHR) systems, SimplePractice and Sessions, facilitate payment management.

Cancellation Policy

If you cannot attend a session, please cancel at least 48 business hours beforehand. Otherwise, you may be charged the full session rate.

Any Other Questions

The No Surprises Act, effective January 1, 2022, requires clients who utilize out-of-network benefits, are uninsured, or pay via cash to receive a good faith estimate of services and preliminary diagnosis. Please be aware that this estimate is subject to change, as outlined during the informed consent process for treatment.
